1-2-1 Training
Taking on new clients in 2023
Group training isn’t for all dogs and some behavioural and training issues are not best dealt within a class environment. For dogs best suited to 1-1 training we will work with you to help you understand and resolve behaviour and training issues. We do this using behaviour modification and management methods that do not use force, fear, pain or intimidation.
1-1 sessions are held on an appointment basis in your own home, in one of our training venues or online. An initial assessment is around 90 minutes and follow on sessions are advisable to help coach you through the process. Follow up sessions are available to book as you go or as a bundle. We will discuss and record a full history of the problem and your dog’s temperament will be assessed. Our goal will be to make clear the motivation for the behaviour and give you a treatment programme that works for you & your dog.
Realistic expectations
As with all dog training there is no magic wand and treatment of behaviour problems is not like you see on the TV! It can take time to establish the causes of issues and develop the right training programme for your individual circumstances. All dog training requires patience and consistency with the best results being achieved where we consider the long-term goals, as well as immediate management and training.
What happens after the consultation?
You will receive a full report and summary of the consultation to make sure you get off on the right foot.
1-1 consultations greatly vary due to there being all sorts of issues that can cause problems. The initial consultation will give us the opportunity to assess your dog, have an in-depth conversation about the issue and how you are currently managing your dogs unwanted behaviour. We can then draw up a training protocol to suit you. Follow on appointments are also often necessary to help you and your dog continue to make progress, If appropriate we have a group session that runs once a week where you can practice around people and dogs in a safe environment whilst you build up confidence in yourself and dog. Further advice and after-care can be provided via Online Consultations, Follow on 1-1 sessions and email support.
